From the desktop user perspective, i don't see the benefit that Solaris10 provide over Linux. Because it just another Unix flavour with GNOME and java stuffs which are supported in Linux already. The key features of Solaris10 are for enterprise (such as Solaris Secure Execution, Solaris Dynamic Tracing, Solaris Containers, Solaris Predictive Self Healing and many more) and novoice user don't know how to use or get benefitsfrom that feature.Btw if you are a guy who're working with the network oriented job or cluster/grid related job and want to make your everyday job easier so go for it.It's just my opinion after i've worked around with solaris for a month.
